Visit of Tora Aasland, Norway’s Minister of Research and Higher Education to Nanjing U and Chinese-Nordic

Tora Aasland, Norway’s Minister of Research and Higher Education, visited Nanjing University (NJU) on September 10. NJU President Prof. Chen Jun met with Minister Aasland and discussed cooperation in education, scientific research and student exchange between Nanjing University and Norwegian universities. Accompanying Minister Aasland were several representatives from Norwegian Universities, Consulate General Nomme from Shanghai and representatives from Innovation Norway and The Norwegian Research Counsil.
President Chen Jun briefed Minister Aasland on NJU’s Chinese-Nordic Cultural Center and Institute for Climate and Global Change, and their current cooperative projects with Norwegian universities. He spoke highly of Norway’s higher education and suggested enhanced cooperation between NJU and Norwegian universities in scientific research, especially low carbon technology.
Minister Aasland agreed with President Chen and expressed the hope to promote student exchanges between Norwegian universities and Nanjing University.
